New Bulletin Board Auction Information
What is it?
Rent a coder now has a new type of auction called
the Bulletin Board auction that has more lenient posting rules than the
Project auctions.
This bulletin board auction is ideal for:
- Job position postings
- Hourly rate jobs
- Announcements
- Requests for completed software
- Any other situations that do not involve the
typical escrowing of funds for a fixed price project
What does it give me?
The bulletin board project allows your posting to appear on
the site to 62,000+ coders for 1 month and includes full communication via the
site with all coders who post responses. Unlike normal auctions, Coder are
allowed and encouraged to provide you with contact information so that you can
contact them off-site as well. Additionally, your posting is placed in the
scrolling 'Newest Bid Requests" ticker on the site (where the latest 10 or so
projects are displayed until they are 'knocked off' by newer submissions, and
featured in that day's "Bid Requests of the Day" email that goes out 33,000+
coders.
Price:
The price for posting a bulletin board auction is $150, but
is being discounted to $50 while the program is still under development.
This compares quite favorably with the $335 for a comparable posting on
Monster.com and other similar sites, which do not offer the communication
facilities and online browsing of past ratings (if that is of interest to you)
that Rent a Coder does.
Restrictions:
The restrictions for this
new type of auction are evolving, but they currently are as follows:
1) No postings having to deal with illegal or grey market activity, including
spamming.
2) No postings that are attempting to sell a product a service to a customer.
How do I get started?
Since this is a new feature, the setup is currently done by a
person. Just send the following to
BulletinBoard@rentacoder.com:
- Your posting description (2000 characters
max). If you need more than 2000 characters, you can split it into a
description of 2000 characters and an attachment which can be of any length
you wish. If you've already posted a bid request as a normal project and
want it posted verbatim as a bulletin board auction, just indicate the bid
request id or title instead.
- How you wish to pay (PayPal, Credit Card,
snail mail check (for U.S.), international postal money order (for non-U.S.).
Payment details will be sent to you.
