Description:
This should be easy for a CGI/PERL programmer.
I need a solution that will:
1) upload a file to my server from a webpage*; 2) Count the English words or Chinese characters in the .txt, .RTF, or html document (.doc would be a bonus) and 3) calculate a price. 4) document is mailed to specified address. 5) document is saved on server.
* The fields on the HTML page are:
File:_____________ [browse] Subject [drop down]- options: general correspondence, specialized business, technical, medical, scientific
Source [drop down] - options: English, Chinese (traditional) and Chinese (simplified)
Target [drop down] English, Chinese (traditional) and
Chinese (simplified)
Format [drop down] - .rtf, .txt, .html
combo box: ( ) 24 hour rush?
There is example on worldlingo.com.
So guy uploads a file, it's stored on my server and he is taken to a "success" page where WORDS X PRICE PER WORD is calculated for his "bid estimate."
Notes:
1) There should be some easy way to limit the size of the u/l'ed doc.
2) The formula for calculating the price is
A) minimum price is $20. B) each word is $.15 (in other words, if there are three words, the price is still $20. For jobs where there are words such that WORDS x .15 >$20 just WORDS X .15 is the calculation). C) If the subject="technical, medical, scientific" or combo box checked there is a 15% additional charge.
Examples 6 WORDS = $20 135 WORDS = $20.25
3) pls document how I can change the "price per word" and "minimum charge" variables. It mustn't be "hard coded."
4) There will be three sources: English, Chinese (traditional) and Chinese (simplified). If the source is Chinese (traditional) or Chinese (simplified) the program must count the number of CHARACTERS not including punctuation. If the source is English, then you're just counting words, not including punctuation.
path #!/usr/local/bin/perl. I would like to save in /savefile in cgi dir.

2) Installation package that will install the software (in ready-to-run condition) on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.
3) Complete ownership and distribution copyrights to all work purchased.
Platform:
Server OS is BSD PERL is 5.001 path #!/usr/local/bin/perl Would prefer a solution based on cgi-lib.pl and the fup.cgi script, but this is at your discretion.
