I need a RAM Disk device driver for Windows XP that does that following:

Should function as a normal disk is all respects - unless there are good reasons for not not having some features.

Should have the usual disk structure - FAT32 or NTFS.

Disk size should also be configurable.

The entire ram disk has a mirror image which is stored on a hard disk which is loaded at system start and written back on system shutdown. The name and location would also be configurable.

Some sort of mechanism for a Windows program to pass special commands to the driver. One of these will be a built in command to perform immediate backup of disk image whilst suspending any current disk activity.

Driver to keep statistics of all operations so performance can be monitored. This is to be extracted and reset by a Windows program.

I'm a novice as far as device drivers go, so I will keen to take advice from the developer.

As well as using this driver I'd want to learn how it works and tinker with it, so good code documentation is required.

At a later date I'd probably want Windows 2000 and NT versions as well.

1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.

2) Installation package that will install the software (in ready-to-run condition) on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.

3) Complete ownership and distribution copyrights to all work purchased.

Windows XP

Hi, I like to write device drivers. I have written device drivers for windows and linux. I would like to do your project. I will heavily comment the code, so that u can easily understand the structure of the device driver and the (WDM) windows driver model that is the main thing to understand which leads you to the good device driver writing. I'll also give u some guidlines to write a good device driver and will provide some web material by which u will be able to get a good understanding of the windows device drivers. I'll also give to some examples of device drivers. Your work wil be 100% completed. I will be very thankful if u accept my bid. Waiting for reply,

Best Regards,

Ali Sheharyar

Hi, Thanks for replying. All the requirements are clear and understood. I am satisfied with the specs of the device driver. I will provide support for the FAT file system, but depending upon the time left, i'll also try to give the support of NTFS. Please do a favor for me. If u want to accept my bid, then please accept it asap (but after ur full satisfaction). So that i can start writing the driver soon and could met the deadline easily. Waiting for ur reply,

Best Regards,

Ali Sheharyar
