Career History December 2000 - Sept 2001 Vodafone, Banbury
My primary job description was writting product reports using PLSQL scripts on Oracle 8.0.5 for use on HP-UX in Korn shell using the AMDOCS billing system.
While there I also developed an indexing technique for use on large tables without an index. Using this and other tuning methods, I was able to reduce the total runtime of the daily reports from 9 hours to 2.5 hours. I received a special commendation for this work.
I also designed Intranet Management Console for open communication of status of MIS reports using HTML, Oracle, ASP, Javascript, ODBC/JDBC. This would allow the users requesting the reports to have realtime access to the status and location of the requested reports. In addition it would supply management with statistical information on the runtime, and success or failure of a given report.
August 2000 - November 2000 Connectware, Amersham A contract writting Perl 5 scripts and forms to interface with Baan ERP systems. Work also involved setting up CVS version control systems on HP-UX and user interface UNIX scripts in C shell.
July 2000 - August 2000 TDC Ltd., Daventry, Northants. Contracted by TDC Ltd to develop a proof of concept document management prototype using Step2000, Word2000, SQL Server 7.0 and OLE communications.
The product required Step2000 to call Word2000 and open a template according to data in the SQL Server DB. On closing Word, if the document was changed the user was prompted to commit changes to the database. If the user pressed OK the database was updated according to the changes in the Word document.
April 2000 - July 2000 Banctec Ltd., Colnbrook, Bucks. A 3 month contract working on the Halifax IF project converting an existing VB application to Web browser base. Work involved writing Java COM objects to read images in BLOB format from an Informix database and transfer them to the browser; writing a VB COM OCX for viewing and printing the images from a browser and writing supporting ASP pages using VBScript, Javascript, and HTML.
March 1996 - April 2000 TDC Ltd., Daventry, Northants. Permanent employment. Specialised in applications development and integration, researching and developing prototype products for new markets. In addition, the job requirement involved ongoing modifications to the Catia CDM product using Oracle triggers, PL/SQL, ProC and Unix shell scripts - predominantly Korn shell as well as C and Bourne shell.
TDC Project Summary : Solely Developed Applications TDCScan Jan 1997 - April 2000 A scanning application written in VB4, later upgraded to VB6. The application was designed to export a scanning window to external third party applications creating a seamless scanning operation within the third part application. Currently sold by RasterX UK, v1 used by TRW - Neath until replaced by SAP system in 11/1998.
CDM / PC Jan 1999 - April 2000 CDM/PC interfaced with a Catia CDM installation on an Oracle database to allow product management of CDM on a PC. Further development, funded by Siemens, led to a C++ and Java version which exports data and structure from Catia into a custom file format for import to Metaphase. Received commendations from Siemens and SDRC for design and development. (Copies available on request)
Kosova WebSite Spring 1999 http://www.bashkoni-familjet.com
Written in JavaScript and VBScript integrated with SQL Server 6.5. Written to help Kosovan refugees locate relatives and leave messages for one another.
