Description:
Need experienced coder to implement the following feature on my small business site: A visitor selects one of roughly 30,000 small .gif files by entering a 6-digit ID into a text/formfiled. After hitting "download", the file arrives on the visitor's desktop. It's easy to implement in Netscape, but two coders tried in vain to make it work in Explorer 4.5 and 5. There is a problem with Explorer, described on this Microsoft site: http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q182/3/15.asp If you can think of a work-around or some other creative solution, including modification of the assignment itself, please take a minute to look at this page at my site: http://www.oscillochrome.com/htmls/ch421.html Thank you!
Deliverables: Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
Remember that contacting the other party outside of the site (by email, phone, etc.) on all business projects < $500 (before the buyer's money is escrowed) is a violation of both the software buyer and seller agreements.
We monitor all site activity for such violations and can instantly expel transgressers on the spot, so we thank you in advance for your cooperation.
If you notice a violation please help out the site and report it. Thanks for your help.

If you want to bypass the 'Save as' Screen, where the user Has to choose whether to Save or Run the file, I think you're out of luck - I don't believe there's a way to do it without using an ActiveX control in the page, and even then, the user has to click 'Yes' to accept the control.
If you don't mind the user having to click 'Save' and 'OK' to save the file, this is no problem at all. |
