Description:
This is a very SIMPLE project of offline advertising. Made with VB6, the purpose of this software should be to AUTOMATICALLY update offline and replace the current desktop background picture (wallpaper) by a new picture, each time the user is actually able to see the desktop background (minimizing or closing the applications he&'s working on).
Up to 100 jpeg pictures would be included with the software and will display randomly but never doubled and during a viewing time of minimum 20 seconds (for example) for each picture.
Once the 100 pictures got displayed, the software will pop-up an information window with a link to our web-site AND, most important, a code provided by us through a little additional monitoring software.
The subscriber will then connect to the website to get a reward and download a new set of 100 pics and a new code and so on.
This is a marketing project for our website, full specifications available here to download (word format).

Dear sir,
I'm a cracker. I hope you know what it means. I know several safety tips to avoid users cheating.
A few questions....
'This change operation should be 'invisible' to the user.' --> that implies you need at least one fully maximized window to do wallpaper change? i.e., middle-size windows doesn't count?
'In case the user would like to validate his reward and download the next batch later...the user app should stick with the last ad displayed' --> why don't show a custom wallpaper saying 'congratulations' or something?
Forget that idea of working with ASP, PHP, or so. You don't want to have a legion of hackers brute-forcing the admin password through HTTP and finally entering the 'God Mode' menu. Why don't use a custom monitor client for the administrator? It would really difficult to hackers to cheat, even if they get the admin'....You could use it anywhere. That would made the running monitor service more stable avoiding the 'unavailability by maintenance'.
Well,
Best regards,
DEN! |
