Beginning Java2
by Ivor Horton

No programming experience is required for readers of this fantastic intro to Java!

Purchase

This book is one of the best introductory Java 2 books available. Unlike most programming books which require a formal education in programming and least a knowledge of one programming language, Horton assumes the reader knows nothing!

After a brief introduction, Horton jumps right into the basics: variables, data types, operators, control structures, and syntax.  Next, he tackles streams, files, and threads, and finally GUIs.  With great coverage of GUI Swing components and the Java 2 event model, as well as Java2D graphics and database connectivity, this book is a fanastic intro to the world of Java!
