Description:
Provide a script that copies contents from a working directory to a production directory on the same website. Full context follows below…
I&'m a web hosting provider. I have a PHP program that provides web based (WYSIWYG) editing. The way the PHP program runs on my server, I have to give full rights (777) to the folder where the users save their files. I&'m not comfortable leaving their folders with full permissions due to the risk that someone else could modify or write content.
The solution I foresee would use a CGI script that copies content from a password protected working folder to the production folder (httpdocs).
Example.... My customers would create / edit their work in the working folder. Once their work is complete, they would run this script to 'promote' their content (html files and graphics) to a production folder (i.e httpdocs). My hosting provider says that CGI will run as the site owners&' username so I can leave the rights to the production folder as read only.
Deliverables: 1) A script that copies content from one folder to another within the same site. Copying all files is OK, however if files could be selected from a list as well, this would be even better. 2) A setup script that installs the script into the users /cgi-bin/ folder and automates any configuration commands. 3) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
Other Although not a requirement if the install script could copy the PHP editor to a working directory within the site and password protect the directory this would be great in that it would automate the effort I&'ll need to do when I set this up for each customer.

I will make a Perl script. It will copy/move the files You like from a path to a destination. Also it will change the access mode of the files by your preferencies (like: read-only, execute ...)
