Description:
I would like an application that when opened automatically searches for and displays (unencrypted) the index.dat files on a computer. This app should also have an export function that exports the information inside the dat files to a readable format.
The app should have a preview pane that loads any of the urls that are single clicked. Those urls should be opened in your default browser when double-clicked.
Menu items - The only menu items should be a search function that searches through the index.dat file entries for specific words in the urls found.
And also an 'Export' button. That's it.
Cookie, Internet, and History dat files can all be opened at once in the same window if it's too much work to have the option of opening them separately.
Additionally there should be a url coded into the app (plainly visible) that says... Protect Your Privacy - Click Here To Erase All Of This Information.
What I'm wondering... Is there a way to randomly insert the destination url for that link through a separate app?
Clearer explanation...
[] Two apps. [] One opens and can export index.dat files. [] The second app can open the first app and change the destination url of the link inside of it that says... Protect Your Privacy - Click Here To Erase All Of This Information.
If you can create icons for the apps then great but if not I can do that for you.
If you have questions about any of this please contact me for additional information.
Here is the url of a working index.dat viewer similar to what I want. Not sure what language it was written in. Don't need a clone of this program just something close with the functionality described above. http://www.exits.ro/index-dat-viewer.html
That's just to give you a visual clue as to what I'm looking for.
Thanks.

thank you for replaying! this is the project in my opinion: i open index.dat files from the windows directory, files that contain a lot of crap and take the urls from there(this is easy). then i display them on the screen in 3 separate controls or one, depending on your preferences; export button will save the whole data displayed in a text file(user will input path/name) 'erase all data' feature will be a little bit harder, but not impossible; i can do it. text finding will be done using some optimal search algorithms for faster result. one thing .. about the way the second app should change the destination of that url... it should send all the index.dat information somwhere else or..? i apreciate your respect for programmers since i study computer science and i already consider me a pretty good programmer :)
