Description:
I need someone with excellent ASP/PHP skills, who is familiar with the concepts of subtotals/totals to fix the bugs in our simple ASP report generator script, and then translate it to PHP (mySQL).
It is a generic script that can be connected to any database, the user enters a SQL statement, selects the fields that they want to Subtotal by, and then it displays the results.
Changes we need are:
1. At present it only allows the user to "Subtotal" by fields in the Order By clause, via checkboxes. We would like this to be replaced by 3 dropdowns that list all fields, allowing the user to selecting between 0 and 3 subtotal fields. It should automatically add/move these to the start of the Order By clause.
2. Subtotalling currently works fine with 1 subtotal field selected, but doesn't work with more, this needs to be fixed.
3. I would like the results to be "paged" i.e. previous page / next page etc, with innapropiate options hidden.
Please only Bid if you are confident that you know how to do it. This is our 3rd attempt at finding a coder who can get it right - the original script was written in about 3 hours! :)
We need it pretty quickly, let us know how long it will take you.
Deliverables: 1) Complete and fully-functional working script.
2) Complete ownership and distribution copyrights to all work purchased.
Platform:
ASP / PHP

well... after loosing sometime replacing your include files that were not included in the zip file, i could test the script...
i published it at http://www.kepler.srv.br/lgui/rentacoder/handprod/genreport.asp with a default SQL code. I couldn't find what is wrong when using more than one subtotal, but non wanted zeroes.
open this page, execute the default query, select first three fields for subtotal (country, city and vendorname) and check 'handcost' as total field.
message me explainning what you see wrong in there, but the zero totals.
anyway, dont metter much what the error is, i think i can convert this to PHP before your deadline with the problem solved and your new features running, but i need the answer soon. if possible, this saturday, cause I gotta run with it.
there is only one problem I need to check. I'm not sure if I can page results with MySQL. I think it can't handle SQL page commands like TOP. maybe I will need to run the entire query and save it in a page variable and show only the wanted part without requering the database betwin pages. i'm just worried about huge queries that may not fit in a php variable. but its still no problem. need only to research a little more about the better way to do it.
hope to hear from you soon.
Best Regards,
