Description:
This project is to create a template page for showing streaming media clips from interviews of a number of individuals. Our company, owned by an ad firm, does interviews for market research. For each question we do 24 interviews. Please look at the example .gif I&'ve included before reading further. Each of the photos at the bottom of the page will be another person (this sample only has two women in it). Here&'s how this page should work. Clicking one of the photos on the bottom causes: 1) a larger .jpg photo to pop up in the window above it, and 2) a .gif with various data about the person to pop into the box just to its right, 3) a dimmed down version of the small photo appears at the bottom, to indicate this person is “active.” In the example I have posted, the woman in the upper row at left is the active person now, that photo is dimmed down, her larger photo is above, her name is Sally Kowalski. After you&'ve completed creating a template and we&'re actually using it, we will create .jpgs to fit in the bottom (both dimmed and not dimmed) and in the top larger window, and gifs that fit in the data box. All these will be stored in an images folder. For the purposes of this template you can use any dummy jpgs and gifs you want.
Here&'s the tricky programming part. When a photo is active below, the user can access any of four streams of video, plus a web page linked to the “Photos” button. Again, you can link to a dummy web page. The user can select either Real or Windows Media with the radio buttons at upper right, and can select either 56K or DSL+ connection speeds. When the user hits “PLAY” the appropriate RAM or ASX file will be accessed. So for each individual below, there are two RAM files and two ASX files, and the user selection determines which is activated when PLAY is hit.
When the page first comes up, the default position is as shown: the person in the upper left is active, RealMedia and DSL+ are selected.
You can ignore Transcript, Play Sequentially, and Playback Tips buttons, which will be hyperlinked to the same files no matter who is selected. We&'ll take care of this.
Deliverables: 1) A working template (you can use dummy jpgs, gifs and whatnot). 2) Either a wizard or clear instructions on how to use the template.
Please contact us with any questions!
This has to be done so that web novices (not beginners) can easily input the jpgs, gifs, RAM, ASX, and html page links. Maybe create a wizard to help, or give explicit instructions on how to easily change the filenames in the html code. We usually work in DreamWeaver, but can work in raw html if the instructions are very clear or a wizard is available.
We have the Photoshop PSD files which we can send you, if it would help.
Please describe how you would undertake this and what method you'd use to make it super-easy for us to use your template. Also, please give an estimated timeline for completion of the page.
Thank you!
Edward

Hi. I would love to help you with your project. I have over 3 years experience as a web developer. I am well versed in many languages and technologies used in web development such as ASP, HTML, JavaScript, CSS, flash, Visual Basic (and VBScript), and C++.
I think that this whole project can be done from within a single (DHTML) web page using client side scripting. By using JavaScript effectively I will be able to do exactly as you have described. This way you will not need to use a database or even any server side scripting/files. I can guarantee the entire project done within two weeks of you accepting the bid. However, I will most probably have it done within the first few days.
Furthermore, I can make the page Dreamweaver friendly. I can also make directions that are easy to follow and very descriptive. The internal HTML and JavaScript code will NOT need editing at all after the page is done. All your employees will have to do is rename your gif, jpg, RAM, and ASX files to work with the page. Also the price is negotiable.
Contact me privately to discuss your project in detail.
Thanks for the consideration.
