As part of this service, we also offer software that help to reduce the start-up business cost. As part of these packages, I want to also offer software for document preparation and spreadsheet management. I am aware that there are several cost and free packages that offer the user the ability to create documents and spreadsheets (Word and Excel come to mind), but I will need something proprietary to my company that can be packaged with other software offerings. Here is what I will need: First, we will need a WordPad clone: For document creation, we will need a clone of Microsoft's Word Pad program, a basic word processing application. The specifications for this program should closly mirror this application in look and basic functionality. I have chosen this program, as the functionality is simple enough to use without many of the features that are found in commercial applications (hence, the free cost). Please look at this application on your PC. I will have a spec document available for this if needed for review. Secondly, we will need a clone to the Excel Reader, adding the capability to save: This will be used to manage spreadsheets. Again, the specifications for this program should closely mirror this application in look and functionality. I have read your requirements and would like to work with you on this project. If you are going to always package these apps together, I would like to build you a single application with both capabilities, giving you the option of adding additional functionality in the future. As far as the Excel Viewer, I have worked on many projects involving the Excel control within VB to read, write and save files in Excel format. This has come in handy in that this has allowed users without MS Office to view and save Excel files, much like what you are looking for yourself. As far as the Text Editor, I have worked on several projects involving the manipulation of text files. I have worked with other applications, but have found that using VB, which is a MS product, is more consistent with MS Office. I would like to build it primarily within VB. If you would rather have it built in a different language or tool, please let me know as I feel that VB, again, is a very good option to building what you want. Just let me know.
