If you are not, this little job *may* not be for you. Essentially, I have a very long text file from a business database. The text file has a "record" that looks like this for each of 100 companies. ID # Company Name Company ticker symbol Primary "SIC" code number List of all the SIC's that the company is a part of List of Officers (their names, their title, etc) List of Board Directors (their names, their title, etc) Company subsidiaries I need the computer program to collect information from each company's "record", and then to put all that information into one "row" in an Excel file. There are roughly 16 fields (or variables) that I need. So putting the fields into a comma-separated values text file would be great. The challenging part is that some programming is required to extract a few variables that I need. Specifically, I need information on "CEO duality" and the number of "insiders". CEO duality simply means that the CEO is also the "Chairman of the Board" so I need to verify a match between a name in the officers' list and the same name in the directors' list. An insider is any board director that is also an officer. This requires more matching between the officers' list and the directors' list. The deliverable I request is a computer program that prompts for a text file and spits out a data file that I can import into Excel. The program should be capable of handling over 1000 records at one time. I will be checking the winning bidder&'s Excel file for the 100-record text file against my own manually derived results before accepting his program. Attached is the text file of 100 records, as well as a Word document that spells out the variables that I need. Variable descriptions take less than 2 pages. Deliverables: 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Installation package that will install the software (in ready-to-run condition) on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) Complete ownership and distribution copyrights to all work purchased. *4) The winning bidder will provide a comma-separated values file that I can import into Excel that encodes the 100 companies that I have attached here. If I accept this .csv file, then the bidder will furnish the computer program that can simply prompt for the file name and encode the variables I am looking for. *5) The winning bidder will provide up to 1.5 hours of consulting on this project anytime between when the .csv file is sent and 2 weeks after the program has been sent and the transaction has been completed.
