Description:
Develop and implement a PHP/mySQL-based database backend for an existing, mostly completed e-commerce website. A reasonable balance between simplicity and flexibility is the central project goal. Extensive use of existing royalty-free script libraries for speed of development and ease of future feature expansion is highly desirable.
More clearly stated, priority milestones for this project are:
- Straightforward, non-GUI, web-based management console for adding, editing, and deleting catalog items, and so on.
- Ease of importing new item lists in CSV, Excel, MSAccess, and so on. Import tooling should NOT be built into the application, rather that imports can be accomplished relatively easily by experienced office automation staff using readily available external software tooling.
- Automatic publishing of items image (thumbnail), brief description, and hyperlink to summary item listing pages by page category (Home & Garden, Travel and Lifestyle, and so on). The item listing pages are fixed format horizontally, and grow/shrink vertically.
- Automatic publishing of actual item ad (main item image, full description, and hyperlink to shopping cart, etc.) The item ad pages are fixed format horizontally, and grow/shrink vertically.
- Website search engine with keyword capture facility.
- Integrated shopping cart with shipping estimator, and EASY integration to any "standard" ccard processor, with the simultaneous option of using PayPal instead of the ccard processor.
- Automatic email confirmation w/auto generating confirmation number.
- Easy export to XLS, CSV and Tab Delimited formats.
- Any "standard" features for a "typical" ecommerce website/database integration for a site that is unlikely to ever exceed 250 items.
BONUS will be made available based on:
- SPEED of implementation
- QUALITY of work
- QUALITY of in-code documentation
- ABSENCE of arcane coding practices (fast execution, PORTABILITY, ease of expansion)
Deliverables:
1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
2) Installation package that will install the software (in ready-to-run condition) on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.
3) Complete ownership and distribution copyrights to all work purchased.
Platform:
Linux/Apache web server running PHP4/mySQL.
