Description:
We have some source code for the dialler software (dun) we distribute to our members at present. This is written in C++ , we need some additonal features added to it.
1. We need it to self update the telephone number that it dials and the home page it initially opens, this will need to all be done once the user has connected via reading a txt file. This must be very fast ! 2. It must work on all windows platforms, currently it doesn't work on win xp 3. It must once connected drop and dock to the bottem of the screen ( above the taskbar) and open to a window of 468 x screen width, there it must then use the username / password it stores for connection to interigate our sql db and retrieve stats on the user connected. It must also have a clock for time online spent. 4. Finally it must have only a disconnect button , not a close window button.
Hope all is very clear, a copy of the source will be sent to the successful bidder only.
Deliverables: 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
2) Installation package that will install the software (in ready-to-run condition) on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.
3) Complete ownership and distribution copyrights to all work purchased.
Platform:

Hi,
I already made a dialer with live update functionalities. It connects to a web server, and downloads an XML file containing the list of entities stored in the web server. Each entity is composed by name, URL and version number. An entity could be the address book, the application itself, a cliccable banner, and any customizable component in user interface (gif, properties, etc.). Unfortunately I can't send you a demo version due to copyright problems, I just say you that the first client who bought this dialer (from the company where I worked last year) made about 35.000 copies to distribute to their employees for internal e-learning services. I used Delphi to do this program, but fortunately C++ is my preferred language.
So, I'm sure you agree I have the skills needed to do your job. This is how I think about the features to be implemented: 1.- The auto update of the telephone number could be done using an xml, html or text file on a web server. The dialer, after the connection has been estabilished, contact the web server to download this file, extracting the information required: the telephone number and the URL of the home page. The speed of this process depends upon the availability of the web server and the quality of the communication line used to connect to the internet. But I think this way is a fast solution.
2.- I will do some debug activities to correct the problem. Do you have any idea why it doesn't work on XP? 3.- I didn't understund this funcionality, could you explean clearly what do you mean? Does the application connect to a remote database server and it retrieve some statistics data to show to the user?
4.- The program I made works the same way, so it's not a problem.
Hope to hear you soon. Bye Antonio Bello, aka jeden. |
