Description:
I'm looking for a programmer who is familiar with StormPost (high-end email software developed by Skylist). If you know what I'm talking about and have expertise in perl, mysql, unix, smtp, then read on.

To make a long story short, I own a private permission-based email network. I use StormPost for my email delivery. The developers of the software are outrageously priced for server/software maintenance, so I am looking for reasonable alternatives.

I need a "go to guy" who can:

1. Maintain my servers - basically make sure they are always running in tip-top shape and are always secure. (system admin)

2. Fix any bugs with the StormPost software.

3. Troubleshoot and fix anything that goes wrong with the server and software.

4. Customize features and build add-ons within the software.

5. Be available often via aim, icq, or msn for easy communications and for emergencies.

6. Be self-motivated and looking to grow with me.

7. Understand the email industry. Its strengths, weaknesses and limitations.

The bottom line is I am looking for someone for a long-term business relationship. Monthly pay based on hourly work... and maybe a minimum monthly pay. You could view this as "part-time" work with a high priority... maybe 20 hours or so a month (maybe more depending on what's going on).

I'll tell you straight up that I'm a high acheiver and if you half-ass work, I'll let you know about it. But if you apply yourself and reach for your full potential, I'll be your best friend.

Now... equally important to your expertise and ability is your character. You must be honest, and trustworthy. That obviously goes without saying, since you would have access to my servers, software and data. You will have to prove your honesty and integrity to me.

I don't care where you live in the world, but you must be able to communicate effectively in English.

I hope YOU are the person I'm looking for!

Deliverables:
Don't waste my time or yours. Bid only if you are serious.

1. Tell me WHY I should select you.
2. Give me an hourly rate you will accept.
3. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns or requests.

Thanks, and I look forward to hearing from you!

1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.

2) Installation package that will install the software (in ready-to-run condition) on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.

3) Complete ownership and distribution copyrights to all work purchased.

Platform:
unix
linux
mysql
smtp
perl

Hello,

I am a highly experienced Unix guru prepared to ensure the security and reliability of your systems. I am also a Perl scripting expert capable of providing crucial improvements to your applications.

My governing principle as a system administrator is to 'get there the firstest with the mostest.' My goal will be develop monitors for your systems and applications to alert me to situations requiring my attention before your users are inconvenienced.

StormPost will be a new application for me to support. I assume there will be much to learn - the same as when I supported other complex applications such as Oracle and SAP.

My fee for professional consulting is $15/hr, plus any RaC fees. I would expect a retainer (minimum billing) equivalent to 10 hrs/month.

I am an independent consultant working full time. I will be available daily to serve you. My location on the far east coast of Canada (an hour ahead of NYC) ensures early attention to your requests and status reports.
