Description:
I need an LSP (Layered Service Provider) Filter for WINSOCK. The filter must be able to contact a remote server (protocol to be determined) and request whether this user should be allowed to visit this site. The remote server will be connected via TCP. The remote server will then authenticate the user key (provided), and return if the site should be allowed to pass through. If not the connection must be refused.
MUST work with Windows 98, ME, 2000 (SP2+) and XP (Home and Pro). IE 5.5+ is the browser that will be blocked (but it is hosted in another application).
Another option would be to build a firewall and build in this connection filtering there as well. I am open to suggestions from coders, but the LSP has worked well on other projects in the past. If we go with a non-LSP solution will probably require two separate systems (One for 9x and one for NT).
Deliverables: 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
2) Installation instructions. We will integrate into our existing installation system.
3) Complete ownership and distribution copyrights to all work and source purchased.
Platform:
Windows 98, ME, 2000, XP (Home and Pro). LSP must be written in C++, other options (firewall) I am open to suggestions.
Must be 100% finished and received by buyer on:
Mar 15, 2003 EDT
Deadline legal notes: All times are expressed in the time zone of the site EDT (UT - 5). If the buyer omitted a time, then the deadline is 11:59:59 PM EDT on the indicated date.
Special Conditions / Other:
The server side component will be developed in parallel. The communications protocol from the server to the client side will be up for discussion as we go forward.

Hi
Just want to clarify some things before making the bid, to make sure I understand your request correctly:
1. There's a client application(s), and there's an 'authorization' server. Whenever the client application (or any other application on client's computer) wants to connect to some site, the LSP issues a request to the authorization server first, to check if the client should be allowed to contact that 3d-party site.
2. Firewall is just an option and you'd be satisfied even if this option isn't used (LSP-only solution is enough).
Is that right?
Speaking of the protocol for client-server interaction, I'd suggest using public-key encryption for it. 1024-bit RSA should be more than enough. But all this stuff can be decided later when more datails are available.
Good luck, Ivan
