Description:
Description
We are seeking an Outlook 2000/2002 add-in that will send a single message to multiple recipients (max of 2000 recipients per list). It should be implemented as a add-in, and will place a single new button on all ‘New Message&' forms entitled ‘Customer Communication&'. When pressed, it will display a drop down list of possible email groups (the list of groups is dynamically sourced from an Excel 2002 spreadsheet). When a particular group is selected, the email text will be sent individually to each member within the group.
The data source is an Excel 2002 spreadsheet. Data is contained in fixed columns, ie, col1=name, col2=email, etc. The spreadsheet will be stored on a W2K server and accessed through a network share.
We will supply the developer with a sample spreadsheet to illustrate format and protection that can be used for testing purposes.
Feature List
Will be password protected - each email group has a unique password (stored within spreadsheet) that must be entered before emailing starts. The spreadsheet will also be password protected (Excel XP). Status display - should show status of send job to user, i.e., current email address, total recipients, recipients sent so far, and a progress bar. Will allow variables within the email text to be replaced with cell data from the excel sheet. In other words, before sending, the program will do a search and replace on three possible variables within the text of the email. Here is the replacement variable list: o &Name = Column3 o &Child = Column4 o &Grade = Column5 Email address will be stored in Column1 of the spreadsheet. Assigned Group will be stored in Column2 of the spreadsheet. Passwords will be stored in Sheet2: o Column1 will list all groups o Column2 will list all passwords The mass email function will not interfere with the spell checking feature of Outlook - if the user has spell checking turned on, it should complete before the mass emailing begins. An ‘Options&' button on the drop down list will allow the user to change the following settings: o Location of source spreadsheet o Spreadsheet password
Deliverables: 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
2) Installation package that will install the software (in ready-to-run condition) on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.
3) Complete ownership and distribution copyrights to all work purchased.
Platform:
I am open to the suggestions of the developer, but would prefer MS VBA, VB, or C++.
Must be 100% finished and received by buyer on:

Hi,
I have attached a zipped up class module which we use for distributing newsletters to our customers. It works along the same principles as your Add In requirements :-
All contact Details are held in an Excel Spreadsheet The macro, opens the spreadsheet, reads in the email addresses, replaces a number of variables in the chosen email template with data from the spreadsheet and then sends the emails.
Although this is not an Outlook Add-In (it's a normal macro) - It is easily presented as a button on the toolbar to fire it off and is also easily maintained.
Alternatively I could modify it to work as an Add-In if required.
Overall I think it could form a good basis for your requirements - obviously it need some modifications to work in the manner you expect but this should take just a few days....
I look forward to discussing this project further with you...
Best Regards .. Ken
