Description:
I want to create a client-side application to "tap" the Amazon database.
Using web services technology, Amazon allows to submit a search or request data for a given book or set of books.

This application will allow users to quickly create their own book listings directly at their website.

In the application, the user can create book categories and drag and drop books directly from Amazon into these categories.

Ability to create and upload HTML pages via FTP to the user's site.
user would be able to customize the HTML templates used for the book listing directly in the application.

The user interface would be like the standard Windows File Explorer — with the categories and books listed in a tree configuration on the left and a tabbed interface on the right, including: integrated Amazon Web Browser tab, Book Detail Tab, HTML Template Tab, and Preview Tab.

Ability to include book images in user's HTML page, by simply adding a [image] tag to the template. All the images would have to instantly appear. If users want all the user reviews, they could plop in a [userReviews] tag.

Deliverables:
1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. Documentation.

2) Installation package that will install the software (in ready-to-run condition) on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.

3) Complete ownership and distribution copyrights to all work purchased.

Platform:
Windows, Macs. IE, Netscape, AOL.

Must be 100% finished and received by buyer on:
Oct 30, 2002 EDT
Deadline legal notes: All times are expressed in the time zone of the site EDT (UT - 5). If the buyer omitted a time, then the deadline is 11:59:59 PM EDT on the indicated date.

Remember that contacting the other party outside of the site (by email, phone, etc.) on all business projects < $500 (before the buyer's money is escrowed) is a violation of both the software buyer and seller agreements. We monitor all site activity for such violations and can instantly expel transgressers on the spot, so we thank you in advance for your cooperation. If you notice a violation please help out the site and report it. Thanks for your help.

Hello,

I think that is a very good idea to generate static html pages from Amazon&'s information. It&'ll permit to access to the benefits of the affiliate program quickly and without require any custom development.

The program will permit:
. Maintain a table of “Categories” defines by the user
. Maintain a table of “Items” that include the ASIN (Amazon Standard Item Number) for each book and its category
. Edit the HTML template
. Generate the HTML pages
. Upload by FTP the pages to the web site

If you wish, I can include the possibility to the user of put “BrowseId” in the Items, so it will quickly to replicate Amazon&'s categories.

Amazon&'s contract permit caching of information only for 24 hours, so I included a function to “Refresh Book&'s Pages” that update all pages with the actual information and send them to the web site. This function may be invoked by a Scheduled Task to be activated each day.

The application will be developed with VB6 and MSAccess 2000.

My proposal includes:
.full documented code
.installation support
.report progress every 48 hours
.response on you e-mail in 24 hours.
.One month, after project end, of support including bug fixing and question solving

It will cost $220 and the estimated time 10 days.

I can deliver a prototype in day 5 if you wish.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me at your convenience.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Best Regards,

Miguel Asdrubal
