Description:
I need some help debugging clue. I had someone create a function to find the shortest distance to another room. However, there are a few problems with it. I do not want the function redone. I just want it debugged. The problems are these.
1. When a room is blocked, it locks up. In this situation, I would want it to move anywhere possible during the turn. This also happens sometimes when the closest route is blocked. One function that may need to be redone is the destinationroom function to find the best room to head toward next. For this function, if the room it found is blocked, then it would search for the next best room. If none is found, then it would still choose the room but then just wander around until the doorway is not blocked anymore. The game is all developed. Just make the improvements listed. Also, let me know if you notice other problems as well. Do not create an entirely new algorithm for the movements toward the room since it works perfectly. Just add to it to account for paths being blocked. Choose 6 players and choose white for human to really test it since that is when it usually has problems. If you have not ever played the clue board game then goto http://www.hasbro.com/instruct/clueins.pdf
for instructions how to play. The game follows all basic rules except that white goes first instead of scarlet. Also, if the human makes an accusation and the accusation is wrong, then the human loses automatically and the game is over. If you have any questions about the code or playing the computerized version of the game, please do not hesitate to ask. The modMap code I would not be able to help you since someone else wrote that code. The same goes with TextEffects.bas. Finally the computersquare function someone else wrote. Everything else I can explain it if necessary.

musiclover,

I found a looping in GetNextMove() when computer player blocks the entrance to a room and computer player inside is trying to get out. Sounds like your situation.

I will be glad to work with you on this issue. (Neat game setup by the way.)

Ken
