Help! simple question, VB, PHP, ActiveX

Ok,
Im a newbie. Lets get that out first. =) Ive been trying to get a good grasp on Programming. Im also very interested in web publishing. Ive mastered the BASIC programming language (LOL) and Ive gotten OK at Visual Basic. I learn very fast! I want my web pages to come alive. I use flash and jscript but they dont do exactly all that I want. So, I took a look at other people's pages and they seem to all have .php at the end of their urls. also, it appears they can attach variables using php, like: www.domain.com/index.php?var1=1,var2=2 etc. So I did some research, it seems that they run actual programs on these sites. And since im familliar with Visual Basic, it turns out that vbscript language is very simillar, so thats good. Well, down to what I need, I want to know how to get my apps on my website, I mean the total newbyish and basic things. Like, do I need a certain ActiveX control to get this going? and if so, do I have to host my domain from my comp and not the server I use (yahoo geocities). All I need is info, like if I want to run a php file on my server do I need something like phprun.ocx on it? Keep in mind im just a newbie. If possible, create a simple little app, something that maybe says scrolls hi in blue letters and then gets a variable and displays it or something. This means a whole lot to me so if anyone can help, please do! Ill pay for this on paypal, and I can pay half now, half when your done. I hope that you can see me through getting my first simple app on the web, but if it takes too long, dont worry. Im pretty sure ill grasp really quick though. I learn from example.

Im sure that this can be delivered in probably in a day as it is some info and maybe a little coding (very very little) Just because I learn from example. I just gave some time in case some coders might get scared away at a really close deadline.
Remember that contacting the other party outside of the site (by email, phone, etc.) on all business projects < $500 (before the buyer's money is escrowed) is a violation of both the software buyer and seller agreements.
We monitor all site activity for such violations and can instantly expel transgressers on the spot, so we thank you in advance for your cooperation.
