Description:
I have a FFA Script, that I want someone that is really good at perl to have a look at. Check my code, rewrite the parts you think could be done better / more effective, make the code smaller, faster and make sure it runs stable. Actually, it is running okay now and I have a demo here, I just want a pro to check the code, and fix anything if needed: http://www.getmaxhits.com/cgi-bin/links/links.cgi
BUT ... There is a section in the scripts admin menu where posted items can be deleted. Now only one post can be deleted, I would like you to add checkboxes so it's easy to select multiple posts to be deleted at once.
You can download my script below and have a look. Then in your bid, let me know your ideas, what YOU can do to make this a really great, fast and stable script! http://www.submitad.com/files/ffalinks.zip
If you also have good knowledge in VB6, it would be great. I have a small tool that automatically download the above script from my server and install it on the users server, chmod and make it ready-to-run. A few users have reported they have problem to use it, but majority can use it nicely. It's a small, easy to use tool, have a look what you think: http://www.submitad.com/files/ffainst.exe
Just some more info ...: It just one large script, and that's how I want it, just to make it EASY for the end user to upload / install. It uses a plan flatfile db, and that file and several other is automatically created first time script run, again, just to make it easy to install, just one file to upload... So this I want to keep. Also fieldname, db structure etc... can't be changed since it will receive postings from a autoposting software and it must still work.
Deliverables: Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
Complete FULL copyrights to all work purchased.
Platform:
Unix, Windows, all major browsers, VB6
Must be 100% finished and received by buyer on:

Hello:
Congradulations on your script. I believe that in a half day I can review your work and apply my 8 years Perl scripting experience to improve the quality of your software.
Your script would benefit from defensive programming techniques available within Perl. For instance, all scripts should invoke the -w option to enable Perl warnings -- very enlightening to see what any programmer overlooks. In addition, more powerful Perl constructs can improve both the efficiency and clarity of a script.
My recommendations will work within the constraints of your design. We will consult regarding changes I intend to make to the script. Above all, I want you to be comfortable with the result.

P.S. I must plead total ignorance of VB. |
