Resume:
I was born in Potsdam, former Eastern Germany, in 1982 where I attended the Evangelisches Gymnasium Hermannswerder from 1994 until 2001. The school has a strong focus on linguistic and social sciences, linking them with modern science's approaches, and I had a variety of opportunities to cultivate my enthusiasm for languages, in particular in English which I majored in for my Abitur, as well as my active interest in Informatics.
My fascination with IT began in the early 90's and since the mid-90's I have worked on the planning, design and development of software systems. Mainly self-taught I have dealt with the design and development of web-applications, multi-tier applications, user-interfaces as well as with distributed and interconnected applications and software components.
In 1999 this work took on a more concrete form, when I and a friend founded our firm c:ndg, in which we specialised in various areas of IT services, in particular those mentioned above. In the two years of business, before I left to concentrate on my German A-levels, we successfully completed a number of large and small commissions, many involving the integration of business-steps and company members and the combination of already existing solutions with newer infrastructures. These projects have left me with a very differentiated view of technology and a strong sense of the importance of communication.
Over the last two years my interest in IT and software has been channelled into more specific paths. I have become increasingly absorbed in possibilities of combining language and information technology, which led to my decision to take up a university place in an Intelligent Systems Joint Honours Bachelor degree course at the Oxford Brookes University.
I have spent the past year setting up a new and more specialised company, mokka°logic technologies, while completing my compulsory year of civil service in an Old People's Home. In this context my partner and I were working on several paid as well as unpaid projects, including a project on Visual Software Intelligence headed by Mrs. Sabine Kurjo-McNeill, a former member of the CERN Institute in Geneve.
