     A very simple technique to select random data from a SQL Server query

To select random rows of data via a query, try the following:

Select Top 10 * from myTable Order By NewID()

The key here is the NewID() function which returns a random unique identifier.

I have a list of resources persons in an ASP page for which it's sad to list in alphabetical order (because the A ones are always listed first, etc.). With this quasi-random way, my problem is solved without VBScript processing! Thankx! Very useful!
