This would be in the form of "SUBSTR (Phone, 5)" which would eliminate the area code of a list of phone numbers. This works fine if you know the length of data being queried. If you have a column of data that has variable lengths and you only want the last 4 characters you can use a negative number with your query. "SUBSTR(Var_data, -4)" will return only the last 4 characters in your column regardless of the data length. This method saves time and computation cycles because you do not have to check data lengths before doing SUBSTR functions.
