For a long time i used this sort of querys "select * from Data where instr(1,Field1,'Search'),instr(1,Field2,'Search')". Until i tried this one- "select * from Data where instr(1,Field1 & Field2,'Search'). Hope somebody will find some use for it.

Hi, you could try this for SQL: select Field1, Field2 from tblpat where CHARINDEX('search string',Field1 + Field2 , 1) >0 Or select Field1, Field2 from tblpat where Field 1 like '%search string%' or Field 2 like '%search string%' I guess they should return the same results. I tried both, but don't know if there's a speed-difference because of caching or because the second query is faster. Query1: 1:38 min Query2: 18 sec

OOPS, Query1: select Field1, Field2 from tblpat where CHARINDEX('search string',Field1 + Field2 , 1) >0 Query2: select Field1, Field2 from tblpat where Field 1 like '%search string%' or Field 2 like '%search string%' This should also work for access, but you'll probably have to use another wildchar like *
