Description:
roject: to use microsoft excel to calculate price levels from an existing database of stock prices then compare todays closing price to those levels and create a sorted output based to proximity to a key level.
Deliverables: Detail: Read stock price data csv files from a subdirectory (date, open, high, low, close, volume) (contents of subdirectory varies) (name of issue include underline in name ie: IBM_D.csv ; extensions are all the same )
Find highest high and lowest low in most current last X bars (with default of 64) plug the numbers into my existing spreadsheet which creates 13 results (labeled -2/8 thru 2/8 with 0/8 the most important)
compute todays volume relative to yesterdays calculate (todays open + todays close) / 2
Put results that are at or between levels 0/8 and 1/8 in another spread sheet. Sort from 0 down to 1. Secondary sort on percent volume change from yesterday with largest increased volumes first Put calculation in third column. (not involved with sort).
Repeat with another spreadsheet for results between 1 and 2 , Third time for 2-3
Take results and output stock name only to a txt file. (drop off any character in stock name after the underline mark.) Text file output should be named level0.txt, level1.txt, level2.txt with no labels or headers in file.
This should all be done in one excel book. Each run should be fresh (I have no use for yesterdays results but dont delete or overwrite sheets you create until I do a new run)
I have the most current excel

Hello sir...
I am not used to the stock terminology, but it seems to be that what you want to do, can be easily accomplished with Excel macros, which are repetitive routines programmed through the Visual basic for applications interface the MS Excel has.
I've worked with Excel macros for 4 years, so I think what you want to achieve will be no problem. But you will have to be a little more specific on every step that should be followed to get the final result you want.
Your project can be done in two days, depending on how I get to understand the whole characteristics you define it should have.
Thanks for your attention and best regards. |
