Description:
I have a E Commerce site developed already using HTML and Javascript as part of my first homework assignment.
My second assignment by a different professor who has lectured us on server side languages like JSP and Apache has asked us to either develop our first site with the features outlined in assignment brief below or to design something else with these features added using 'Java Server Pages with a database in 'M/S Access' and the server 'Apache Tomcat'. Something some should do just to show lecturer that we have understood the languages and can show them working.
Assignment Brief:
Further develop the website you designed in module 1 to make use of server side scripting (JSP) and a database (MS Access)
Expected functionality: · Use of web based forms to add records to the database · Dynamic pages which include data from the database · Search features which allow users to retrieve a record or group of records from the database.
Example Application: An online student database with the following functionality: · Add student record · Retrieve student record by: o Class o Name o Alphabetical · Retrieve exam results for: o Students o Classes o Subjects o All · Edit/ Update/ Delete students and classes.
Use Apache Tomcat to host your site and server side code. This is included on the accompanying CDROM.
Your site should use as many of the techniques and tools covered in the course as possible. It should be visually interesting and well presented. It should be easy-to-use and feature as much user interaction as appropriate.
Please include a 20-30 page typed manual (excluding index and appendices) to explain the rationale, design and structure of the site, the JSP features you have incorporated with a detailed explanation of how they work.
Deliverables: 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
2) Installation package that will install the software (in ready-to-run condition) on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.
3) Complete ownership and distribution copyrights to all work purchased.
Platform:
Windows XP
Must be 100% finished and received by buyer on:
May 16, 2003 EDT
Deadline legal notes: All times are expressed in the time zone of the site EDT (UT - 5). If the buyer omitted a time, then the deadline is 11:59:59 PM EDT on the indicated date.
Remember that contacting the other party outside of the site (by email, phone, etc.) on all business projects < $500 (before the buyer's money is escrowed) is a violation of both the software buyer and seller agreements.
We monitor all site activity for such violations and can instantly expel transgressers on the spot, so we thank you in advance for your cooperation.
If you notice a violation please help out the site and report it. Thanks for your help.

Hello Little Seal,
My name is Uday. I am a web-applications developer based in Bangalore, India. My expertise include Java, JSP, Servlets, EJB, JDBC, Java beans, XML/XSL,and different databases. I have extensively worked on Apache Tomcat Servlet engine, Weblogic, Websphere etc. application .
I am interested in bidding on your project and I am very confident that I will give you the best solution. As you specified in the description, I will try to incorporate all the JSP features and demonstrate how well one can utilise the strength of JSP's.
I have attached a small assignment that I had done it recently, for the demo purpose. It is a vehicle maintainance system based on Servlets (no jsps) and Tomcat servlet engine. I did the whole project in 2 days, so much effort went into functionality rather than look and feel. Please have a look and feel free to send your comments. You need to unzip the contents in your DOCUMENT ROOT directory in the tomcat servlet and create an entry for the application vms in your servlet.xml file. Also, you need to create a DSN for vms.db using Microsoft JDBC-ODBC driver for MS-Access.
I placed a bid for 35$, and I am slightly flexible in the price font, if the project is in-hand. I presume the assignment involves right from the Database designing. Please feel free to send your comments and I am glad to receive them.
Thanks for using RAC and we wish you good luck in getting a good deal at RAC.
Best Regards Uday
