Description:
I had a coder do this work for me back in January. A function was created for an appointment screen which would stop users from overwriting or overlapping appointments when recurring appointments are made. It works sometimes, but sometimes it doesn't catch the other appointment blocks. Start time-end time etc. Other coder is busy with other projects and I need this ASAP! Please review how it all functions and make any necessary changes to it. This function is very important to the program. I can delete records and add future appts as expected. It just the protection for overwrites and overlapping of appts that is a problem.
Problem:2 items
1.I have added future appointments on 4/14/03. Assume that these appointments are made one by one by double clicking the cell on the grid and adding a customer, and were not created using the "recurring" feature. (People will often call a salon by phone, and make their appointments in two weeks etc. So a salon will book not only recurring appointments when the customer is in the salon, but single appointments for sometime in the future.)
Now go back to 4/7/03 and make an appointment for 10:30 am for some customer using the recurring feature and add this recurring appt for say the next 4 weeks into the future. It allows the appointment to be made, even though there is already an appointment on 4/14/03 from 10am through 11 am.
2.Also for example, on the 4/14/03 the cell from 12:00 to 12:15 is open as no appt was made there. But if you were to go to 4/7/03 and book a recurring appt for 12:00 for color which is a 60 min appt, it overwrites and overlaps on the 4/14/03 appt for 12:30
It didn't allow me to make a recurring appt at 9am, yet as I continued to try to add more recurring appts down the column, it began to allow the overwrite of the appointments.
Sometimes it seems to find the overlapping or pre exisiting appointment, and sometimes it doesn't. I thought that this only happened when the user would continually add recurring appointments while the frmappointment form was opened. However, it seems to occur without any real reason that I can see. I thought that on the initial load of the appt screen that this didn't happen, but it does on the initial load of the screen as well.

Hi,
Send me the VB 6 source and I will fix it.
This should be either today or tomorrow as I am not available after that.
Thanks, Dennis Ps. I will keep you informed of my progress during the course of the project. |
