Description:
This application is to allow dialup internet users to host services on the internet. It will use the features of Microsoft Win 2000 dynamic dns update. However the client machine cannot connect for security reasons directly to the dns server. Software required.
1. Client, this will run on the pc that is serving the internet web site. The client will scan the machine for ip addresses of the network card and then diplay them to the user. The user will select the external internet address and type in the names to be resolved. i.e. ip adress = 192.168.100.1 names www.fred.com mail.fred.com these entries will then be stored in a file with the username and password then encrypted. The file will be ftp to the server. The client program will check the ip address every hour, if it changes it will recreate the file and ftp it again. There will also be a facility to manually enter the ip address.
2. Server. The server software will collect the files from the ftp server and process them one by one. As each file is processed it will make the required calls to the dns servers to update the records. It will check the users account is active. Email will be sent for each change to the dns etries. Advise on this functionality will be taken from the programer.

This will be stored in a table for processing. 3.3 Manage my account and make changes. To my dns entries etc.

I have read through and fully understood the concept and requirement of the project. Basically, you're enabling users to update their ip address (dynamic because of dial up) on the DNS server through a server apps. Three questions - the ip in your example is an internal one. It is gonna be an externa ip that will be sent to the server right ?
Another question is on encryption. How much encryption are you looking for ? x509 cert connection ? or just a normal https. You could probably zip the file up with a password and ftp it. And then on the server, it can unzip it using the password stored in the user database.
Lastly, whom you are emailing after the dns entry is updated. The user ? or the admin. You said 'to the dns etries'.
If you're running windows 2003 server, i'd advice you to use web services :) because win2003 server have a DNS server built in. The solution will be more integrated. But my suggestion is to use the .NET technology, and the admin web page will done using asp.net with C#/VB.NET as the codebehind and access 2000 / SQL as the database backend.
I have developed a great number of asp.net admin pages. I'm certain this could be accomplished in 2 weeks.
