Description:
I am an experienced VB applications programmer that is struggling with a piece of lower level systems stuff and would like some help for which I am willing to pay.

The project is an automation application that runs in unattended batch mode and needs to interact with a proprietary 32 bit console app (DOS style application).
The DOS app is launced by my automation app which needs to read its output, examine the results (which I will do) and return appropriate replies until eventually closing down the DOS app and the console it ran in.

The DOS app is in itself a console, asking the user to enter details at its own ">" prompt.
This is exactly the same as typing "FTP" and entering commands at the FTP prompt.
In fact, using FTP is a perfect test platform.

Deliverables:
1) A bas module containing calls to :
a) Launch the DOS app (eg. FTP).
b) Send commands to the running DOS apps prompt.
c) Read the DOS apps response to each command.
d) Close the DOS app/process/console/??
e) Ability to run without user input (batch mode)

2) A test form with a text box to enter a command, another text box displaying the apps responses and a command button to send the commands.

3) Distribution copyrights to all work purchased.

Platform:
Primarily this will run on WinNT, Win2K, WinXP Pro.
The ability to function on Win95/98 platforms is considered a "nice to have" but not essential.

Must be 100% finished and received by buyer on:
Mar 8, 2003 EDT

Hi,

I can provide an ActiveX developed using C++. Would you be interested ?

I am an experienced C++ developer and I think that C++ seems to be a good tool for such a requirement.

regards

Mr Greg,

Thanks for showing interest in my offer.

The proposed ActiveX would do exactly what is defined in the document. The four functions would be supported by the ActiveX control. The signatures would be slightly different in the sense that there would not be any handle to application since the ActiveX object instance is good enough to track the instance. The ActiveX object would not have any user interface. I would provide a sample application (VB) which demonstrates the use of this ActiveX object using FTP program

The ActiveX object would be able to control any console based program which makes use of only standard input/output. The caller code can be in VB or any language which can use ActiveX objects.

regards

Anil Kumar Maurya

Mr Greg,

I have verified the feasibility. There would not be any problem.
