Description:
I need help from coders who know how to set up Paypal Merchants on the IPN system. I have an auction business that is going through the roof and can no longer manage to collect and post payments one at a time through their email notifications. I am a premier customer with them, thus qualify for this service.
Here is what I need to do.
I understand that the Paypal IPN will allow me to have payment information from my customers sent to a URL that I designate, send a verfication message back to paypal and allow me to have information on the payment captured.
I have an Access database that is used to manage auctions, inventories, sales and fees, and will need to integrate the captured data into this database.
I have no idea how this will work and will need your guidance on how to set this up, and parce the collected data into a format that will import into the database.
Your help is needed. I dont know what language this should be coded in as I have no idea how this will be set up.
When replying, please offer suggestion on how this will be accomplished and list any experience you have in this.
Deliverables: 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
2) Installation package that will install the software (in ready-to-run condition) on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.
3) Complete ownership and distribution copyrights to all work purchased.
Platform:
Win XP
Must be 100% finished and received by buyer on:
Feb 18, 2003 EDT
Deadline legal notes: All times are expressed in the time zone of the site EDT (UT - 5). If the buyer omitted a time, then the deadline is 11:59:59 PM EDT on the indicated date.
Remember that contacting the other party outside of the site (by email, phone, etc.) on all business projects < $500 (before the buyer's money is escrowed) is a violation of both the software buyer and seller agreements.
We monitor all site activity for such violations and can instantly expel transgressers on the spot, so we thank you in advance for your cooperation.
If you notice a violation please help out the site and report it. Thanks for your help.

Hi,
I have set up PayPal IPN for my own site (then switched to Shopping Cart, but I still have experience with it) as well as setting up other similar gateways for merchants such as from Verisign.
This is best implemented in an ASP script if you are running Windows NT/2K/or XP (you're on XP Pro, right?)
It's simple, really, when a customer makes a payment, Paypal sends the script we will write a message, then we send a message back to paypal, and they send a confirmation, ensuring that it is 100% secure. Once we get that message, we update your database with notification that they have paid (I don't have the specifics on this until I can see your database, though).
That's it in a nutshell. Let me know if you have any questions before accepting bids.
Thanks
Philip
