Description:
I have been having such a hard time getting some sort of spam filtering to work on my machine, that I think I need to start doing something my self.
under /var/log/ in the file messages it looks similar to this.
Jan 26 10:37:55 kingserv identd[18713]: Connection from buick.coolspecnet.com Jan 26 10:37:55 kingserv identd[18713]: from: 66.239.3.77 ( buick.coolspecnet.com ) for: 34069, 25 Jan 26 10:37:55 kingserv identd[18713]: Returned: 34069 , 25 : NO-USER Jan 26 15:55:49 kingserv identd[12200]: Connection from pcls2.std.com Jan 26 15:55:49 kingserv identd[12200]: from: 199.172.62.104 ( pcls2.std.com ) for: 11954, 25 Jan 26 15:55:49 kingserv identd[12200]: Returned: 11954 , 25 : NO-USER Jan 26 15:57:56 kingserv named[9509]: Lame server on 'e-linkdeal.net' (in 'e-linkdeal.net'?): [66.115.49.9].53 'NS2.SWEEPSCLUB.COM' Jan 26 15:58:02 kingserv identd[12373]: Connection from ns.superreply.com Jan 26 15:58:02 kingserv identd[12373]: from: 216.10.1.200 ( ns.superreply.com ) for: 44274, 25 Jan 26 16:43:23 kingserv identd[15366]: Connection from kingserv.kingmanaz.net Jan 26 16:43:23 kingserv identd[15366]: from: 65.169.223.3 ( kingserv.kingmanaz.net ) for: 45618, 110
The ID number 18713 & 12200 are spam. They are sending to unknown users and their mail is bouncing.
After it reads the message file it can delete the contents. If the file it self is deleted syslog need to be sent a HUP.
I want it to be able to write a file with the IP address of these places and a separate file with the domain name. No host part of the domain. When the domain name is written to the file I want it to be written as
"at sign"coolspecnet.com
with one domain per line. Then one final file that has both in it.
66.239.3.77 coolspecnet.com
These files will be updated many times a day. Could be large files. I was thinking of running it maybe once every 15-30 minutes. By the end of a week, I might have some of the spam slowed down to our site.
I don't want dupes of IPs. Some domain spam's have multiple IPs with one domain. Multiple domains in the third list is OK as long as the IPs are different, not the domain only list.
I will have the third list posted so people from other sites and local will be able to read it.
Last but not least, a file that has the names of those not to enter. Even that I would love to shut some of these sites off, it's just not a real good thing to do.
aol.com juno.com etc....
Thanks Bob Ross
