Description:
Program will consist of the following
Personnel dBase to include: Call sign Name (Last, First) E-Mail address Office (All mandatory fields)
Front end to include: Graphical list, by Call sign. Right click on the call sign will display the dBase info (name, office) associated. Or if the right-click idea is too much just display on rollover the name, inactive after the call sign. Each scheduled use will create a file by date (IE MMDDYYRDOCHK.log (or coders choice) Call sign, initially in RED, will have the following function(s) When clicked, Roll to GREEN, display the date/time of access, make this notation to the log Setup menu to include: Log storage (to map to users server share) Exchange setup (where/name) E-Mail notification list (who should get a copy of this log (or a link to the latest log file) Edit Personnel dBase End of Radio Check button(exit) when used will notify the user that the log is being created, ask the users name(or this function can be at the beginning -- to be appended to the log is possible), give them a chance to enter a comment (not mandatory) then with an OK button maybe display the log name and that the results of this test are being e-mailed to the following users (maybe display the users names) display would stay for 20-30 seconds then close.
Log, using information from Personnel dBase the following display lines Date of radio test(such as log file name?) Users name (conducting the test, see above) as header Name, office, Pass/Failed Radio check (according to results from Front end), Time (or blank/NA if it is a failure).
Log will be generated, upon completion of "end of radio check" button, and stored on server file. Results, either the log (Best) or a link to that log will then be sent, via Outlook(?) to the users in the setup/e-mail notification list
Now, the graphical side will list all the call signs (Alphabetical and see coloring ideas - but always open to suggestion). When a person calls up to check in the user can then just click on that "call sign" (the color might help find the name quicker … if not some sort of indication) or if it is easier put a checkbox next to the name … user can then click it … would still like the ability to "right click/secondary click" the call sign and have the persons name and office displayed, perhaps similar to a "screen tip" display. If impossible, skip it. But would be a nice touch/challenge.
Deliverables: 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
2) Installation package that will install the software (in ready-to-run condition) on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.
3) Complete ownership and distribution copyrights to all work purchased.
Platform:
NT/2K
O2K Access ...
ASP OK!
Program runs on one workstation ... but sends results to server folder and using Outlook notifies per above

I can do this using ASP, and I can have it done well before the Feb. 15th due date. I will have this done for you by Feb 8th.
One question - Do you definately need a .log file or could the log be stored in the database as well. What does the log get used for? I ask because it would be easier to access the log information from ASP pages on a server or LAN than mapping each workstation to the folder the log file is stored in and then viewing the log file (in text format) from there. It will also be easier to read because it can be in HTML format instead of text. Just a suggestion, let me know what you think. Premier MicroSolutions - Your premier resource for the web |
