Description:
Please view the attached zip file for complete details. ====================================================== SMTP filter specifications Objective: Create a SMTP filter to filter/suppress messages for relaying through mail server.
Description: I am trying to get a junk filter developed for my organization. The program should listen on a configurable port (25 in most cases). It should work as a filter between the sender and the mail server. Based upon rules, it should either drop the connection, accept the message, modify the sender info, or save the questionable messages on the disk. The good filtered messages should be passed on to the SMTP server.
Deliverables: 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
2) Installation package that will install the software (in ready-to-run condition) on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.
3) Complete ownership and distribution copyrights to all work purchased.
Platform:
MS Windows 2000/XP.
Technologies Used: 1. Should be developed in VB 6.0 or above, or C++. 2. Use of MS access 2000 is okay, if used with MDAC 2.7. 3. Use of a third party socket component is okay, though not very desirable. Used components should have royalty free distribution (Example: Mabry). I will reimburse $75 separately for any components purchased for this development.
Must be 100% finished and received by buyer on:
Feb 28, 2003 EDT
Deadline legal notes: All times are expressed in the time zone of the site EDT (UT - 5). If the buyer omitted a time, then the deadline is 11:59:59 PM EDT on the indicated date.
Special Conditions / Other:
In addition to the technologies used to develop the product, you must be familiar with SMTP protocol and SMTP authentication. General awareness in developing junk mail filters is a plus. I am looking for the program to be fast, reliable, and efficient (If program eats up all the memory or CPU on my server, that is not good). I will sacrifice some features over performance. This is an important project, I prefer someone who has worked on past RAC projects with positive feedback.
Additional Files:
This bid request includes IMPORTANT additional attached files. Please download and read fully before bidding.
Remember that contacting the other party outside of the site (by email, phone, etc.) on all business projects < $500 (before the buyer's money is escrowed) is a violation of both the software buyer and seller agreements.
We monitor all site activity for such violations and can instantly expel transgressers on the spot, so we thank you in advance for your cooperation.
If you notice a violation please help out the site and report it. Thanks for your help.

Hi!
I am familiar with SMTP protocol and i have very good knowledge of the MIME email format. I also have previous experience working with regular expressions/pattern matching.
I have read the detailed specifications and i am confident that i can finish your application within the given timeframe. I will be using Visual C++. I won't use 3rd party components. As for MS Access, i don't know if a database will be really necessary, i can decide that after we discuss more about filtering.
I have already done several projects on RentACoder, all with positive feedback (please check my ratings).
Thank you, Mihai
