Description:
We have, again, switched back to our original bid request - the osCommerce modification/customization. The following is a list of modifications we need - this list is not comprehensive, but will cover the vast majority of the project. If you have any advice or suggestions, please let us know.
1. We need to be able to display html on each flypage for each product category/subcategory. For instance, when the customer clicks on the subcategory "Augustus", the page should not only display the products relating to him, but also a short biography of him and other info that we choose to put there. We need to do this for over 150 different product subcategories! (We can do a lot of the work - we just need some guidance and perhaps a script to make the creation of these pages easier.)
2. Modification of the standard photo size for thumbnails - in osCommerce you select a width and height for all thumbnails - we need to be able to display thumbnails/photos of variable proportions (the coins are usually 60hx180w and the artifacts vary greatly in proportion!)
3. Change a few aesthetic features - on the product flyout tables - it says "Model" - we want it to say "Reference #" instead. The "shopping cart" should be called a "Coin Bag". All references to "Reviews" should be taken off.
4. Sold products should not be marked "Out of Stock" but sold and after 7 days or so, be transferred to a sold page for that particular category/subcategory. For instance, when we sell a coin of Augustus - it should remain on the page until the customer has recieved and accepted the coin (about 7 days), then it should be automatically moved to the page entitled "Sold Augustus Coins" - the only link to this page should reside on the "Current Listings for Augustus" page.
5. A box should be added that contains a list of link to our other sites/resources including our auction site, our refernce pages, our newsletter/forum site, etc.
6. We also need guidance in how to list these pages with overture and how to make them friendly for yahoo! and other search engines (just an example or two and some instructions would suffice).
See "More Details" under the deliverable section.
Deliverables: 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
2) Installation package that will install the software (in ready-to-run condition) on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.
3) Complete ownership and distribution copyrights to all work purchased.
4) The site must be fully functional with fully secured checkout system/order retrieval system.
5) 45 day technical support for additional questions/modifications within reason and within the scope of the project.
More details:
These are the major modifications that we have come up with to date. There are sure to be a few more.
If you have any questions/suggestions whatsoever, we would love to hear them!
Also, if you want to see our current attempt and current site to get a better idea, the links are as follows:
Current site - we want to retain the feel and some of the look of this site - http://www.imperialcoins.com
New site - our attempt to make osCommerce our new cart system and the project you'll be helping us with - http://www.imperialcoins.com/shop
Thanks for bidding!
NB - When you bid, please let us know a little about yourself and some references to work you've done in the past or are presently involved. Also, good communication skills are a must. We want you to ask a lot of questions and to get a good feel for what we are after.
Platform:
Linux Apache MySQL SSL
Must be 100% finished and received by buyer on:
Feb 1, 2003 EDT
Deadline legal notes: All times are expressed in the time zone of the site EDT (UT - 5). If the buyer omitted a time, then the deadline is 11:59:59 PM EDT on the indicated date.
Special Conditions / Other:
Must have the photo issues addressed by 1/20/03 so we can begin uploading our products.
We would like to see the initial completion up and running by 1/27/03 so that we can debug, test, and make additional modifications the rest of that week.
Remember that contacting the other party outside of the site (by email, phone, etc.) on all business projects < $500 (before the buyer's money is escrowed) is a violation of both the software buyer and seller agreements.
We monitor all site activity for such violations and can instantly expel transgressers on the spot, so we thank you in advance for your cooperation.
If you notice a violation please help out the site and report it. Thanks for your help.

I have over 5 years experience with ASP/PHP web development on several sites, including vikings.com (please see my personal info for specifics). I provide quick turn-around time and excellent communication.
I would suggest going with OSCommerce at this point as it would provide the quickest and probably the most stable solution.
Also so you have your own graphics person, or would some graphics creation be a part of the project (no problem if it is).
Let me know if you have any questions. I would be happy to answer anything. I could start immediately on this project. I look forward to working with you.
