Description:
I need a simple catalog/order script that will allow the client to build their catalog through a web page. This would probably entail using a MySQL database.
The script does not need to process payments, it only needs to collect the items being ordered into a shopping cart with the final order being emailed to the merchant. The merchant will contact the customer to arrange payment probably by phone. This client builds custom log furniture so online payments are not used.
I would like to be able to have the various pages produced by the script to be editable via template so as to make the pages fit the style of the rest of the site.
Any questions, or more details required, please contact me.
Deliverables: 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
2) Installation package that will install the software (in ready-to-run condition) on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.
3) Complete ownership and distribution copyrights to all work purchased.
Platform:
Platform should be linux/php/mysql, I'd also accept Perl.
Must be 100% finished and received by buyer on:
Jan 21, 2003 EDT
Deadline legal notes: All times are expressed in the time zone of the site EDT (UT - 5). If the buyer omitted a time, then the deadline is 11:59:59 PM EDT on the indicated date.
Remember that contacting the other party outside of the site (by email, phone, etc.) on all business projects < $500 (before the buyer's money is escrowed) is a violation of both the software buyer and seller agreements.
We monitor all site activity for such violations and can instantly expel transgressers on the spot, so we thank you in advance for your cooperation.
If you notice a violation please help out the site and report it. Thanks for your help.

I would be happy to to this job for you. I recommend using PHP as it is ideal for this kind of project.
I have considerable experience with php and mysql covering everything from creating simple forms to entire sites.
Have a look at www.wbh.org.nz which is a PHP based site I did from scratch (apart from the forum boards which I only customised). I also did the php/mysql work on www.ontracknz.com
Also have a look at the 'books' and 'afterwork' sections of my own site www.laughland.biz. These pages use a mysql database to handle details of feature items that need to be stored locally. Clicking on item images & titles brings up for information, so going from that to collating item details into orders is no problem
Making the forms as templates so they can be customised is also not a problem, I generally do this with all forms I create anyway. I normally build these as separate html documents which the php script loads as required.
I invisage the database will have at least 3 tables, one each for products, customers and orders. Each product, customer and order will have a unique idetification number making extrapolation of individual orders simple. This approach will also make it eash to add online payments later on, if client decides to do that.
I already have a lot of the required php code needed. Also, I'm not to busy just now, so I can start work on the job straight away.
Look forward to hearing back from you.
