Description:
Develop a JAVA GUI for an existing calculation engine in C. The GUI will have basic functions like create a model, add data to the model, perform calculation, present results, save or print results. There will be user settings etc.
As this is the first version of the program the coder is free in desiging (layout) of the GUI under one condition -> user friendliness. The program needs to be complete modular and ready for expansion in the future.
Besides the specific funtionality for the calculation engine the program will have a lot of standard functionality as can be found in todays programs, like: demo function, registration function, help function, reseller option, and so on.
The objective is to get a first working version and to continue from there to develop further. This requires a smart framework for updates.
The program is still work in progress, thus a close cooperation between me and the coder is required. The coder is free to suggest different solutions then presented in the document as long as it improves the useability of the program.
Deliverables: 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
2) Installation package that will install the software (in ready-to-run condition) on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.
3) Complete ownership and distribution copyrights to all work purchased.
4) see attached document for complete description.
5) use attached codeing guidelines to write program
Platform:
It should be platform independent. That is why Java has been choosen.
Must be 100% finished and received by buyer on:
Mar 31, 2003 EDT
Deadline legal notes: All times are expressed in the time zone of the site EDT (UT - 5). If the buyer omitted a time, then the deadline is 11:59:59 PM EDT on the indicated date.
Special Conditions / Other:
Testing will be done by me. The program can be delivered in phases so that I can test and you can work on a different section.

Hi again Michel
I am back here at RAC, with our bid. It took us time to go through your documents and evaluate the changes since the last version.
Due to the communication we had when you posted this project last time, we are clear on a number of issues which might be a problem to the new bidders. Hence I dont have a big query sheet this time for you. Rather, I have listed down below the major modules we need to have in the program.
1. A well defined access system . i.e a user , a user assigned to a group and default settings associated with the user. 2. Ability to create a Markov Model 3. Ability to create multiple models 4. Ability to use models within models 5. A good GUI , where-in drag and drop facility to create the model. 6. The building blocks of the model - i.e the states can be unlimited. So ability to define states and use them in models. 7. Variable assigning in the transitions between the states. 8. Making of Calculation data set. 9. All the above things should be serializable , probably in a xml format. And this should be serializable based on user or model. 10. Reporting has to be very good ...both statistical and graphical. 11. A demo user facility to be built in. -- (not a big task but still it is one them) 12. Integration with the DLLs
And for the implementation, you can count on the following from us: 1. Most importantly, an excellent framework on which future extensions can be built. 2. A robust design. 3. User Friendly GUI 4. Effective Security 5. Extensive Code Documentation 6. And ofcourse, Excellent Communication in all stages of the project.
We foresee a time of around 3 months to complete your work, and can offer you a price of $4500 for the same.
I am sure you would get several offers promising you work within 30 days, and for extremely low amounts but you would appreciate that to build a scaleable framework requires quite a bit of time as well as effort.
As was the case previously, we are still eager to do your project and thus start a relationship where you can rely on us for your IT needs. So sure we are about the Quality we provide that I can safely say that you can choose not to pay us if you are not satisfied with our work.
Lastly, I would just like to remind you that Quality and Professionalism is assured in our deliverables. We are a company and not individual coders, and thus, you can count on us to be there for the future versions as well. Our excellent ratings and reviews are available at http://www.rentacoder.com/RentACoder/SoftwareCoders/showBioInfo.asp?lngAuthorId=454332#CoderRating
Do let me know your thoughts on the same. If you want we can perhaps meet on some Instant Messenger and finalize any issues you have.
Looking forward to your reply,
Best Regards, Vishal (For BrickRed)
