Description:
I need a CGI program that can spider a directory tree full of email address then verify the address as good or bad, then remove the bad address from the spidered file leaving only the good verified address.
The program would work on the same algorithm as ISP mail systems do. Mail servers addresses for specified address are extracted from DNS. The program tries to connect with found SMTP-servers and simulates the sending of message. It does not come to the message sending — the program would disconnect as soon as mail server informs does this address exist or not.
other verify programs just see if the SMTP responds then it assumes that the user is good. and as we all know when your are verifying a free email address list like Hotmail or Yahoo the mail server will answer every time, but again this does not mean the the user really exists.
So the script must be able to waite until the mail server informs the script that this address exists or not.
The script would also have to have a web based admin control panel. This admin control panel would be used for login info for the server you want to spider.
ie: You would be able to setup the script on server 1 and be able to login and verify email address on server 2.
The control panel would also have to pull up the directory tree of the server that you wanted to spider, allowing you to choose the directorys that contain the address for the script to spider.
Also some type of log that would tell you what directories of email address have been verified and the one's that have not been done. This is so you can keep track of what is going on.
The script also needs to be a fast i have over 100 million address online that need constant updating.
Deliverables: 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
2) Installation package that will install the software (in ready-to-run condition) on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.
3) Complete ownership and distribution copyrights to all work purchased.
Platform:
This script should run on all flavors of Unix
Must be 100% finished and received by buyer on:

Dear Sir,
The task is explained perfectly and my previous experience in mail processing systems (take a look at my resume) gives the ability to complete this project in 3-4 days. I assume that everything will be implemented under standard unix system using sendmail. However there are some things that are not clear. As I understand you have mailing lists (files, with email addresses per line) that are organized in directory tree. Then you needn't 'CGI', just simple program (maybe written in C) that does this verification. You can put this program in scheduler (like cron) to run automatically daily, or weekly. But if you want to run this program from HTTP, we can of course make CGI interface for it. Another problem thing what I'm afraid with is speed. If you have millions of email addresses then we need parallel execution of multiple threads to speed up whole process. Also I think you are aware of the network traffic that is involved by this kind of programs. Looking forward to hearing from you soon.
