Description:
We need a script created similar to the common "date" script used by many internet marketing sites.
The date script I am referring to allows the merchant to include the following statement on their website:
"If you order before midnight (that day's date or a date 3 or 5 days away is inserted by the script) you'll get the following bonuses"
We would like a unique date script to be created that allows us to specify "3" and it'll show the date as being 3 days from the day the customer is reading the website or to specify any number such as 4, 5 or more.
Of course it would be 3 days from whatever day it is when the person is visiting. It must all be set to automatically change itself every day at midnight.
There will be a difference between the date script used by many other marketers or the ones that you can get on the net for free though.
Ours will need to use cookie files so that each time the customer visits they are taken to a different page.
On the 1st visit they get a cookie that records their IP address and the next time they visit the cookie is "read" and sends them to a new page that we specify, depending on how many repeat visits they've had to our site.
Deliverables: 1) Create a fully-functional script that meets the project requirements and install it to one of our domains.
2) Test the script using 3 pages that we create and make sure it is 100% functional.
3) We will retain the rights to this script and will be able to resell it to anyone we want, if we decide to do that in the future.
4) Once the script is installed, create step by step installation instructions and zip those up with the original source files then send those to us.
Platform:
All versions of Windows and MAC systems. Microsoft Internet Explorer and Netscape 4.7 and up.
If the person's computer doesn't allow cookies then they will be taken to a 4th page that does not have the script on it.
If the person's computer security or other settings will prevent their being able to view the page correctly then they will be taken to an alternate page with no scipt on it.
Must be 100% finished and received by buyer on:
Jan 10, 2003 EDT
Deadline legal notes: All times are expressed in the time zone of the site EDT (UT - 5). If the buyer omitted a time, then the deadline is 11:59:59 PM EDT on the indicated date.
Special Conditions / Other:
The deadline is set to January 10th although we would like it to be completed as soon as possible.
Along with your bid please post the approximate date you feel you can complete this script.
Remember that contacting the other party outside of the site (by email, phone, etc.) on all business projects < $500 (before the buyer's money is escrowed) is a violation of both the software buyer and seller agreements.
We monitor all site activity for such violations and can instantly expel transgressers on the spot, so we thank you in advance for your cooperation.
If you notice a violation please help out the site and report it. Thanks for your help.

Hello,
I can implement your script in
Perl in 2-3 days effort.
The script's primary function
will be to assign a date in the
future. The date is computed
from the system clock.
New connections will be assigned
a cookie for identification and
as a counter. That cookie will
be the basis of the page shown.
Any browsers that fail to
accept our cookie will be shown
a default page.
I discourage you from associating
users with IP addresses: users
aren't likely to assume the same
IPs when connecting through an
ISP that assigns them dynamically;
and, all users connecting through
a proxy will appear identical to
your server.
With your permission, the script
will select from HTML templates
for easy changes in the webpages
displayed.
