I have done this type of work before to both speed up routines and to perform integer conversions for VB. VB can interface with a DLL either through Declare statements or by referencing a 'type library' which can be built into the DLL. I can build and give examples for both methods, if you'd like.
I've just pulled a small test app from my previous work as a demo. I hope you like it.
