Description:
I have had two persons work on this and so far it hasn't been resolved.

The main problem is that Apache is crashing when started in SSL mode.

I know nothing about Apache, MySQL, or PHP. These are all apparently needed to run SourceForge.

All I know is that I we want to run SourceForge on this PC to allow several remote Engineers to track project progress from their home offices.

The first person installed all the necessary software to run SourceForge, but was unable to compete because of Apache would crash when it starts.

The second person has attempted to find the problem with Apache crashing, but was unable to resolve it as well.

The machine is a W2K SP3 machine connected to two LANs. NIC #1 goes to my DSL Router/Firewall. NIC #2 goes to my tiny Windows p2p LAN. ICS is enabled on NIC#1 as well as DHCP. NIC#2 is set to 192.168.0.1. The Router/Firewall is set at 192.168.1.1 Only TCP/IP is installed for both NICs, no NETBEUI.

There is NO domain, only a local workgroup. This may or may not be a clue, I don't know.

I may not have the firewall set up correctly either. I believe I have opened the correct ports, but am still unable to telnet via port 80 or 443.

I have a Prestige 645R Router. The manual is available online or from me.

You will need to use Remote Administrator to access this PC. You can find RA software at www.radmin.com.

Note: This machine is only used for internet sharing. There are no major applications installed on it. IIS is installed but is not used. ACT is probably the only other application that was ever installed besides Norton Antivirus, Corporate Edition and Remote Administrator.

I'll be glad to answer your questions promptly prior to bidding.

Deliverables:
Get Apache to quit crashing in SSL mode

Set up my Router properly to allow access to the proper ports. I will give you the password later as I have changed it from the default.

Make Router and W2K machine settings as such to make this as secure as practical and test for unreasonable security holes.

Which version of apache are you running?? Did you compile the SSL module yourself, or download a pre-compiled binary??

Minn,

I found a copy of mod-ssl specifically compiled for Apache 2.0.43 on Windows.

Ensure you have Apache2 installed, and the openssl software, then extract the contents of the attached zip file over the existing files.

If that doesn't work, I have a full download (4.7 Megabytes) of Apache 2.0.43 and open-ssl0.9.6g that I can let you download.
