Description:
My site that is still under development has a public news section, and a message board with two separate user databases that anyone can signup to. I wish these two databases to be integrated into the same system, primarily using the forum database as the master of the two.
When a user signs up for one of the two services, they are also at the same time creating an account to the second system. It would be preferable to use the forum signup system for either, as this requires the most comprehensive information from the user. It would also make managing the users easier.
In the admin control panel in the forum for the user accounts, a new field would need to be created dictating if that particular user has access to submit news (in the other application), or not. By default, on signup they would.
The cookies would also need to migrate somehow, so that when a user logs into one system (be it the news section on the main site, or the forums) they are also logged into the second system. A similar result would need to occur when they log out.
You would be working on a site that is constantly been updated while we are still designing it. We can&'t have a section of the site off line for a large amount of time while you ‘play&' to see what happens. Although if you predict a large amount of downtime, inform us first and we shall schedule this to incorporate your needs.
You will be given full access to the site FTP and relevant databases.
There is also scope for further work after this project, should the result be satisfactory.
Regards,
Damo
