Description:
There will be a header record in the data file consisting of three values:
An integer status bit An integer count of the number of records in the file An integer representing the number of fields for each record
I HAVE THE DATA FILE!
3.The index will contain fixed length records
Each record will consist of two fields:
A primary key field
A byte offset field
1.The program will offer following menu:
1. Index a file
2. Search a file
3. Add a record to a file
4. Delete a record from a file
5. Quit
2. For option 1, the program will prompt for the file name (suppose “filename”), read it, and create in index called “filename.dat”.
3.For option 2, the index will be read from the index file and placed into an ordered (by primary key) data structure of your choice in memory. The program will prompt for the primary key, and then the index will be searched using binary search to locate the record&'s address within the data file
If the user asks to search a file that has not been indexed, the program will automatically create the index prior to performing the search. This includes creating the index file and informing the user as in option 1. After the first search operation on a file, the user will stay within option 2 by being asked if another search is desired on the same file. As long as the user says yes, each succeeding search will use the index in memory ; that is, the index will not be read in from the index file each time. Once the user says no to this question, the index in memory must be “discarded”; that is, any subsequent searches (even on the same file) must start over with reading an existing index from disk.
4.For options 3 and 4, a “stub” will be called 6.After each option is performed (except for #5), the screen should pause and the program should prompt the user to “hit any key to continue”;
Deliverables: 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
2) Complete documentation. I need the code well documented in good syntax.
3) Complete ownership and distribution copyrights to all work purchased.
I need the program within TWO WEEKS.
If options 3 and 4 can be don it will be greatly appreciated
Platform:
The program needs to run on Microsoft Visual C++ For Windows 98.
Must be 100% finished and received by buyer on:
