Description:
What I have built is an add on for something I already have built. I design an ASP code generator and I need someone to build an add on for me. I will convert the code to fit my own so I only need the desired functionality. I need to be able to pass in the name of a table in a given database and then allow my end users to build an visual sql query from that table. Query only has to be dynamic enough for one table, but must be flexible enough to allow a person who has NO sql experience to query the database table. The only fields that the end user should be selecting is what fields they want to see from a given table, any where statments and any order by functions (asc /desc) that sort of stuff... It has to be completely dynamic. All I want to do is pass in the name of the database / the name of the table I want from that database and then i want it to let me build a visual query from that. If anyone has any questions please post them. The source code of the project I am working on can be found in the ASP category of planet-source-code. (it is this months contest leader)... ASP Code Generator. Or for more info you can come to my website at www.intratelligent.com.
Deliverables: I need to view and test the asp code to make sure it works and is dynamic enough for my liking.

No problem, you want an ASP page that will take a table name (as a constant?) and list the fields in it, the user can tick the fields to display (no particular order), select a sort order if required, and enter a single where clause (>< <> = NOT LIKE) for each field. Allow an additional Wher field where they can enter any more complicated parts of the where clause.
When submitted, the page generates a table with the data in it, I would suggest limiting it to the first, say 1000 records, or do you want paging for it? |
