Description:
I need an application developed similar to the Linux screensaver "Sonar". The program will simulate a sonar display, as seen on a submarine or Hollywood movie. The sonar should have the traditional black background with light green foreground. The sweep needle must be the most intense possible green (RBG(0,255,0)), with a trail of
'decay', a gradually fading darker green trail, fading into black. The sweep needle should cycle at about 1 revolution per 5
seconds, but this should be adjustable. There should be no flickering from the needle, wich seems to render out any Visual
Basic based line control. DirectX may be required to complete this application.
What the program will be 'detecting' is the TCP/IP connections made to your machine. The total sum value of the first three
classes of the IP Address (xxx.xxx.xxx.000) will be used to position the point on the radar circumfrence. The maximum
possible value is 765 (255 + 255 + 255 + 000), which is to be located at the topmost point of the sonar (360 deg on a
compass). The next class of the IP (000.000.000.xxx) will be used to calculate the distance from the centerpoint. If the last
class is 225 the point is located on the far outskirts of the sonar, if the point is low (eg 1), it is located closer to the
centerpoint.
