Description:
This project consists of modifying an existing program (XcClassified Pro) that I have running on my web site which uses ASP and SQL. This program was developed for general classified ad listings, but I am using it specifically for automobile classifieds (BMW only).
The basic overview of the project is as follows. I would like to add a search form so the user can search by model, year range, price range, and distance in miles from a zip code. Then, from these results, I would like the user to be able to sort them by year, price, or mileage.
Deliverables: I have a program called XcClassified Pro and I would like to modify it a little. This program was developed for general classified ad listings, but I am using it only for automobiles classifieds, specifically for BMW only.
What I would like to do is add a search form on the web site that will search for BMW's listed on the site. The site uses SQL. I would like the user to be able to select the model (from a pull down list), year range (typed in by user), price range (from pull down list), and allow a zip code to be entered then user would select the distance in miles to search (or something similar, like just entering in 3 different area codes to search).
Then once the search has been submitted, I would like to be able to sort the results by year, price, or mileage. If the user does not use the search form mentioned above and instead clicks on the categories (different BMW series which then opens up all the models under that series of BMW) then this should also be able to be sorted the same way. Please visit the web site (www.BMWTraderOnline.com) so you can get a better feel for what I am referring to. The site is under a lot of construction right now but you should be able to get the idea. I have posted 4 generic ads under "3 Series" then "3.0CS" so you can get an idea of how it looks. We may want to replace the "Added On" heading that you see here with vehicle mileage in order to make is easier to sort??
I have also included an example page of what the search form may look like on the main page of the web site. This is not functionally by no means, only for a visual aid. This also does not mean it has to look just like this, you may have a more attractive way of laying this out. www.bmwtraderonline.com/example.htm.
I would like three quotes, one for just the search form, one for just the sort, and one for the whole package. The reason for this is I'm not sure how each of these task will affect the cost and since I'm still in college, my budget for this project is a little lower than I would like. If need be, I may only do one of the two for now.
Remember that contacting the other party outside of the site (by email, phone, etc.) on all business projects < $500 (before the buyer's money is escrowed) is a violation of both the software buyer and seller agreements.
We monitor all site activity for such violations and can instantly expel transgressers on the spot, so we thank you in advance for your cooperation.
If you notice a violation, you can report it to: abuse@rentacoder.com.

This bid is a placeholder until we have a chance to talk about the details.
The search and sort are not difficult. It's the search by zipcode/area code that is going to be more of a problem. The only accurate way to do this is to search by latitude/longitude; otherwise the results will be skewed. I have successfully done this before (by 2 different methods), but it will mean that you will have to buy a zipcode and/or area code database in order to get accurate results. Anybody that tells you otherwise is not going to give you an accurate search. If you're interested, please contact me and I'll give you the details.
Thanks for your consideration!
