Hello,
I hope nobody invests great effort in writing this Perl script because there is already a Unix utility for downloading e-mail. It can download various e-mail protocols, all the mail or just the new messages, leave a copy at the source or erase what it downloads, etc.
This evening I contacted my wife's account and downloaded all her accumulated messages without disturbing her messages on the server. By default, the utility forwards the mail into my account, but I modified it to collect it into a file.
Is this almost what you want?
