Description:
CTRL+ALT+DEL Simulation
This is the forth time this bid has been placed on Rent-A-Coder. All previous attempts have failed due to the complexity of the project. Interestingly enough, the complete source for the bid is availible in WinVNC, an open source C++ project from AT&T. I require the original source to be rewriten in Visual Basic 6.0, or simply made accesseble from Visual Basic 6.0.
Basically I need to simulate the effect of pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL in a Windows NT/2000 and XP environment. This means the program is able to simulate exactly the same effect as pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL on your keyboard.
A sequential list of events that must occur is below. First, the "Winlogon" desktop must be targeted using the OpenDesktop API. Second, the program must call the PostMessage and send the CTRL+ALT+DEL message Last, the program must use the OpenDesktop API to return focus to the original desktop.
I have attached the code I have been able to gigure out so far, if you can make it work that would be accepted as a completed bid. Also, I suggest you download the WinVNC code to help you. Just type WinVNC in Google.
As so many coders have failed to complete this project, I am only accepting completed code. If you can send me a compiled version of the working code I will accept your bid offer.
Please Note: This project is not in anyway similar to locking a workstation. I am fully aware of how to call the LockWorkstation API to lock a 2000/XP workstation. Also, disabling the logon screen is not suitable for the project.
Deliverables: 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
2) Installation package that will install the software (in ready-to-run condition) on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.
3) Complete ownership and distribution copyrights to all work purchased.
Platform:
Windows NT/2000/XP
Must be 100% finished and received by buyer on:
Oct 21, 2002 12:37:26 AM EDT
Deadline legal notes: All times are expressed in the time zone of the site EDT (UT - 5). If the buyer omitted a time, then the deadline is 11:59:59 PM EDT on the indicated date.
Special Conditions / Other:
If the project fails to work I will not be accepting it.
Additional Files:
This bid request includes IMPORTANT additional attached files. Please download and read fully before bidding.
Remember that contacting the other party outside of the site (by email, phone, etc.) on all business projects < $500 (before the buyer's money is escrowed) is a violation of both the software buyer and seller agreements.
We monitor all site activity for such violations and can instantly expel transgressers on the spot, so we thank you in advance for your cooperation.
If you notice a violation please help out the site and report it. Thanks for your help.

I can answer your question, but probably not in the way you would like.
The code you have is correct.
However, the security permissions required for it to work (ie access to the winlogon desktop) is only available to the local system account.
You can run as the local system account by running as a service, which VB is not suitable for.
Or you can find a way to impersonate LocalSystem.
I don't know if you can legitmately do that. |
