Description:
We have an existing data aware COM object written in Delphi 5.0. We need to make it multi-threaded. We thing we have done everything but want to have our work double checked. We also want to write a simple test non-data-aware multi-threaded client in Delphi to make sure the server worked correctly.
The application is called by a another application. It does a couple of simple queries on a MS SQL Server database, and then returns a phone number. It was written as a single-threaded application, and works fine. However, it turns out the application calling the COM server is multi-threaded, so we have made what we think are the needed changed. However, we have not had much luck writing a multi-threaded client to test our COM object - we need to have the test program written. The second part of the task would be help us with any problems that come up in the testing to make sure the server is thread-safe.
We are currently using the BDE, and is would be easier to stick with it. However, we are planning to move to ADO at some point. If ADO would work better with a multi-threaded object, we could do that now. We are looking for someone who has already worked in Delphi with COM and knows all the tricks.
Deliverables: 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
2) Installation package that will install the software (in ready-to-run condition) on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.
3) Complete ownership and distribution copyrights to all work purchased.
Platform:
WIndows 2000 / Delphi 5.0

I am interested in your project, and i would like the opportunity to speak with you further in order to precisely meet your needs.
I have developed applications on the Windows platform for 5 years in Delphi1-6, many of which used multithreading and COM/COM+. I am capable of looking over your existing code and making changes where needed as well as helping you develop a multithreaded client. I have a very simple multithreaded demo I can provide before accepting this bid, if desired.
Thank you for taking the time to review this bid. I look forward to speaking with you regarding this project.
